Open Quote I think the review from 2011 is hilarious. Most teachers drink! And Teachers are not allowed to leave the building for lunch and I think great camaraderie lends itself to better teamwork and sharing best teaching practices. Odell is a wonderful place of learning and kids are safe, happy and proud to be Dragons! Odell is an incredibly diverse community. Odell has support from a great PTA, great working families moms and dads who care and are willing to help anyway they can. The kids enjoy the school and really connect with the teachers there . We have been very pleased and happy with our child's school. There are great teachers who are there to help and encourage the children to do their best. Considering what is happening with the NC state budgets and constant cuts to education, Odell continues to provide what we need for our child to be happy and successful. Close Quote

Open Quote I have a child in kindergarten and I can assure you that when my next child gets to kindergarten they will not be going to Odell. I have seen my child's teacher out with other Odell teachers drinking heavily and acting completely unacceptable. The kindergarten teachers are always out in the hallway talking and seem to think everyday is social hour. My child also complains about teachers bringing in food from restaurants during their lunch time! RUN from Odell as fast as you can! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
