High Schools in Nash County Public Schools

Nash County Public Schools, a 2-star district in eastern North Carolina ranked 158th of 246 statewide, encompasses eight high schools serving about 4,600 students in grades 9–12 (with two also serving grades 6–12): Southern Nash High, Northern Nash High, Rocky Mount High, and Nash Central High are large traditional schools, while Nash Early College High School, Nash Everywhere Digital Academy (NEDA), CITI High School, and Tar River Academy are smaller early-college, online, or alternative/therapeutic programs. Enrollment ranges from 74 students at Tar River Academy to 1,048 at Southern Nash High.

The standout is Nash Early College High School, ranked 26th of 662 North Carolina high schools (96th percentile, 5 stars), with near-universal proficiency: English II 99%, Math III 99.9%, Biology 93.7%, and Math I 90%—despite 99.2% free/reduced lunch eligibility and the district's lowest per-pupil spending. Nash Central High leads the traditional high schools (58th percentile, 3 stars), improving from the 37th percentile in two years; its Math III proficiency is 75.9% and Biology jumped from 29.5% to 56.6%. CITI High School (69th percentile, 3 stars) posts excellent math (86.7% Math I, 100% Math III), the district's lowest chronic absenteeism (8.0%), and a 93.2% graduation rate, but English II proficiency is just 40.9%.
