Summary

Huddleston Elementary is a public elementary school located in Lakeville, Minnesota, serving 496 students in grades K-5. The school is part of the Lakeville Area Schools district, which is ranked 62 out of 446 districts in the state and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Huddleston Elementary consistently performs in the middle-to-upper range of Minnesota elementary schools, with its strongest performance in 3rd and 4th grade Math, where it outperforms the district and state averages. The school also performs well for male students, African American students, and English Language Learners, ranking in the top 25-50% of Minnesota elementary schools in these subgroups. However, Huddleston struggles with its low-income student population, ranking in the bottom 50% of Minnesota elementary schools for this subgroup. Compared to nearby schools, Huddleston performs well against some, such as Southview Elementary and Orchard Lake Elementary, but lags behind higher-performing schools in the district, like Lake Marion Elementary and Lakeview Elementary.

While Huddleston is a solid-performing school, its lower performance in 5th grade Math and Reading, as well as for its low-income student population, indicate potential areas for improvement. The school could benefit from analyzing the factors contributing to these performance gaps and implementing targeted interventions or strategies to address them. Overall, Huddleston Elementary provides a quality education, but faces some challenges in maintaining consistent academic performance across all grade levels and student populations.

Open Quote This school has many problems, beginning with the Principal. She's been at the school it's entire existence and continues to frustrate parents and fail to unite and create community with the staff. There are several teachers at this school that should not even be teaching, but the principal deflects the issue with blaming union contracts instead of fighting for the best teachers. The building itself is falling apart, very drab and dark with leaking ceilings that have been a problem for years yet nothing is done to fix it. That is common with the principal, she will tell you she is on top of things but follows through on nothing. We have been very disappointed with this school and will be open enrolling our daughter elsewhere. I wish the school board was better, but unfortunately they are not. Lakeville school district is becoming plagued with budget issues and the cuts get deeper and more drastic each year. The new Superintendent is more concerned with iPads than anything else. The least of their concerns now is an old school building run by a principal that 100% of the school body is hoping retires soon. Someone needs to come in and turn this school around. And the district for that matter. I feel Lakeville is but a shell of the former amazing school district is used to be. It's very sad. Close Quote
