As part of the Minnetonka Public School District, which is ranked 12th out of 446 districts in the state, Minnewashta Elementary has consistently been among the top elementary schools in Minnesota, maintaining a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger for several years.

Minnewashta Elementary's academic performance is exceptional, with students consistently outperforming the state averages in both math and reading proficiency on the MCA-III assessments. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's math proficiency rate was 70.05%, compared to the state average of 45.21%, and its reading proficiency rate was 74.15%, compared to the state's 49.59%. While Minnewashta Elementary is an excellent school, it faces competition from other high-performing schools in the region, such as Excelsior Elementary and Hilltop Primary School (in the Westonka Public School District), which have even higher academic performance, particularly in math. Additionally, the school's relatively low percentage of free/reduced lunch recipients, at only 5.35% in the 2023-2024 school year, suggests that it serves a more affluent student population compared to the state average.

Open Quote Not much homework, but they destroy the fun in learning with busy work versus learning work. Patronizing to parents. No trust or flexibility with parents. And not willing to look at their poor policies which make kids dislike subjects more. Not focused on working with parents, more dictating to parents.
Administration instead of looking into the issue, silenced the issue and cover it up. Effectively that teaches bullying. Close Quote
