Summary:

Forest Lake Public School District serves 5,360 students across 11 schools — six elementary, one middle, and four high schools — in the Forest Lake area north of the Twin Cities. The district is rated 172 of 458 in Minnesota (62nd percentile, 3 stars) and scores above the state in all three tested subjects in 2025–2026: math 49.9% vs. 44.9%, reading 49.6% vs. 48.6%, and science 31.4% vs. 25.5%. Overall performance is strong, but it varies a lot from school to school.

The strongest schools are easy to spot. Scandia Elementary (82nd percentile, 4 stars) is the best all-around elementary — math 66.7%, reading 60.9%, science 37.7%. Wyoming Elementary (74th percentile, 4 stars) has the top elementary math score at 70.2%, and Columbus Elementary (75th percentile, 4 stars) pairs strong math (68.2%) and reading (56.4%) with the lowest elementary poverty rate (18.37%). At the secondary level, Forest Lake Area Middle School is 4 stars (78th percentile), and Forest Lake Area High School jumped to the 80th percentile and 4 stars, helped by outstanding science (58.0%), an 88.7% graduation rate, and a 3.8% dropout rate.

Forest View Elementary is the main concern: 1 star, 21st percentile, with the lowest elementary math (32.8%), reading (35.7%), and science (11.8%), plus the highest elementary poverty rate (51.01%). Forest Lake Area Community School (0 stars, 8th percentile) reports very low proficiency and a 55.1% graduation rate. Lino Lakes Elementary is mixed — strong reading (54.3%) but weak science (14.1%) — while Step and Community School Credit Recovery have little or no test data. Note that science is tested at different grades, so those comparisons are less direct, and suppressed values are unknown rather than zero.
