Edina Public School District is a high-performing suburban Minnesota district serving roughly 8,790 students across 13 schools — seven elementary, two middle, three high school and one alternative program — and it ranks 7th of 458 districts statewide at the 98th percentile with a 5-star rating. Enrollment is concentrated: Edina Senior High alone has 2,641 students, about 30% of the total, while Special Educational-Non Public has just 7.
Several schools sit at the very top of the state. Edina Senior High ranks #1 of 473 high schools, graduates 95.7% of students with a 0.1% dropout rate, and posts 73.8% math, 74.0% reading and 83.7% science proficiency. Among middle schools, Valley View Middle ranks #5 of 546 and South View Middle ranks #12; Valley View leads in math and reading, South View in science (40.5% vs 35.3%). Elementary standouts include Creek Valley Elementary (#15, with the highest elementary science score at 55.7% after jumping from #53), Concord Elementary (#18, top elementary math at 82.2%) and Normandale Elementary (#23). Highlands Elementary and Countryside Elementary also earn 5 stars. The exception is Cornelia Elementary, the only regular school rated 4 stars, at #150 with lower proficiency in every subject.
District-wide, Edina outperforms the state by roughly 27–30 points in math, reading and science. Notably, neither poverty rates nor class sizes line up neatly with results: Creek Valley performs near the top with a moderate FRPL rate, while Cornelia has the smallest regular-elementary class size yet lower scores. Smaller programs such as Edina Virtual Pathway, Options at Edina High School and Special Educational-Non Public have several suppressed test results, which should be read as unknown rather than as low performance.
