Summary

John B Devalles is an elementary school located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, serving 292 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The challenges faced by John B Devalles appear to be systemic within the New Bedford school district, which is ranked 319 out of 348 districts in Massachusetts and has a 0-star rating from SchoolDigger. Nearby schools in the district, such as Thomas R Rodman, Alfred J Gomes, and Sgt Wm H Carney Academy, also perform poorly on state assessments. In contrast, schools in the neighboring Dartmouth district, such as James M. Quinn School and Joseph Demello, have significantly higher academic achievement.

Despite the overall challenges, John B Devalles has shown some promising areas, such as its performance with homeless students, where it ranked 3rd out of 17 Massachusetts elementary schools in 2020-2021. Focusing on improving the school's mathematics performance and providing targeted interventions for its lowest-performing student subgroups could be potential areas for improvement.
