Summary

Great Oak is an elementary school located in Danvers, Massachusetts, serving around 300 students from kindergarten to 5th grade. The school's performance has been mixed, with some areas of strength and others that need improvement.

Academically, Great Oak has shown varied results on MCAS Next Generation assessments compared to the Danvers district and the state of Massachusetts. While the school's 5th-grade students outperformed the district and state in English Language Arts and Mathematics, its 3rd-grade students underperformed in both subjects. The school has performed particularly well with its special education and low socioeconomic status students, but its Hispanic and female students have lagged behind.

However, the school outperforms some schools in Peabody and Salem, while the high-performing Ayers/Ryal Side School in Beverly outperforms Great Oak across multiple metrics.

Open Quote School's reputation is diminished with the terrible leadership of Principal. Very unprofessional with parents and children. Dismiss bullying and sexual incidents. Parents have to hire education advocate attorneys' for IEP's because the school fights on granting needed services for children. School just cares about their "image"and "test scores" to be reviewed from the outside while the students' suffer with disliking their teacher as well as their Principal that does not put children's' safety and educational needs at any priority. School to involved in fundraising tactics for a new playground instead of investing in the child's education and safety/bullying policy. Close Quote
