Open Quote Verry few good teachers, most have more attitude then the kids. Nothing but bad experiences trying to resolve bullying issues, school keeps blaming my child for being bullied. Has gone down hill since Mr. Wall left and his wife took over. Close Quote

Open Quote I just happened to run across this site while looking for the WELL-KNOWN one similar... Seriously? DBMS stats are WELL ABOVE state and parish averages in every important category... On THIS site even. Anyone whom happens upon this, just know that DBMS, along with Northwood High School, are neighborhood schools that spent the past twenty years or more losing hundreds of Blanchard's brightest learners to "Magnet" schools in the district. Over the past 6 or 7 years, the LOCAL schools have taken huge steps to KEEP these achievers in their community. As DBMS enrollment grows another 40 to 50 kids or so each year (while test scores continue to improve, as well), enrollment keeps dropping at the "Magnet" out in the middle of nowhere. My son loves DBMS and the school is right around the corner for us. If you live in the Blanchard community or surrounding area within the DBMS school zone, and find yourself having to make a middle school decision, I highly recommend you do your OWN research. There are a number of "unspoken" factors that influence ratings you may see on websites such as this. Tour both schools DURING SCHOOL HOURS with your child at your side. Both provide great educations. BOTH have classrooms full of HIGH achievers. Which has the diversity of the real world around us that's necessary to create a well-rounded teenager? Which will be more convenient for YOU to be able to be an involved parent at her school? Which adds more clubs, service projects, etc to make sure he has opportunities for enriching HIS interests? I suggest you show up without an appointment during the school day. See where you are valued. Look for engaging class activities and today's technology in use by teachers AND students. I think you will be surprised by the results of the comparison. We were. Oh, and my son loves interacting with the incredible special needs students at DBMS. I've watched him evolve into a selfless, grateful young man due mainly to the spirit, pride, and diversity he is surrounded by on a regular basis. The grass is just as green (by my neighborhood), and the other side out there just can't stand it. Close Quote
