Summary

Goldsmith Elementary is a K–5 school in Louisville, Kentucky, in Jefferson County, serving 651 students. The central concern for families is that its latest test results are below district and state results in every reported subject, especially in Writing.

Writing is the clearest weakness, while Editing and Mechanics is the school’s strongest subject relative to its other results—not a subject where it reaches state results. Chronic absenteeism improved from 30% in 2021–22 to 20% in 2025–26, below the state’s 24% and the district’s 32%. SchoolDigger ranked Goldsmith 612th of 684 Kentucky schools in 2025–26, at the 11th percentile with one star; its 2024–25 student–teacher ratio was 14, compared with about 16 at nearby schools. In 2024–25, 72% of students were free/reduced lunch eligible, compared with a nearby-school average of about 60%; this is context, not an explanation of results. SchoolDigger’s group rankings suggest stronger relative performance for African American students (43rd percentile versus 11th overall), while the Asian students’ percentile fell from 61 in 2022–23 to 3 in 2025–26; group comparisons involve limited and varying numbers of schools.

We've got four children at Goldsmith and we've loved it there. There is a dual language Spanish/English immersion program and they've begun looping the teachers with the same group of students for two years. We could hardly be happier with our school. Close Quote
