ZIP code 40220 has five schools: three elementary schools serving pre-K or kindergarten through grade 5, and two schools labeled high schools, serving grades 6–12 and 9–12; enrollment ranges from 29 to 1,255 students. The clearest takeaway is that elementary results vary sharply: students’ test results depend much more on which school they attend than the ZIP code alone suggests.

Greathouse/Shryock Traditional stands out at the top: it leads in nearly every elementary grade-and-subject comparison, and SchoolDigger ranks it 15th of 684 elementary schools, in the 98th percentile, with five stars. The gap with Goldsmith Elementary is especially striking: in grade 3 reading, Greathouse scores 79% versus Goldsmith’s 25%, a 54-point difference; in grade 3 math, the gap is 53 points. Goldsmith is lowest in math and reading across grades 3–5; SchoolDigger ranks it 612th of 684, in the 11th percentile, with one star. Alex R. Kennedy Elementary generally falls between the two, ranking 522nd of 684, in the 24th percentile, with one star. Seneca High scores below the state in all six listed subjects, with gaps ranging from 13 points in grade 11 social studies to 25 points in grade 11 writing; SchoolDigger ranks it 236th of 262, in the 10th percentile, with one star.

Recent results do not show a consistent upward trend across the elementary schools: from 2024–25 to 2025–26, Goldsmith’s grade 3 reading fell 20 points, while Greathouse’s rose 11; Kennedy’s grade 5 writing rose 17 points. SchoolDigger’s rankings also show different paths: Greathouse moved from 2nd to 15th over three years but remains near the top, while Goldsmith moved from 649th to 612th and Kennedy from 564th to 522nd. The schools’ 2024–25 free/reduced lunch eligible measures were 26% at Greathouse, 59% at Kennedy, and 72% at Goldsmith; student-teacher ratios were 17.7, 15.0, and 14.0, respectively, so neither measure neatly mirrors the score ordering. Seneca reported 68% free/reduced lunch eligible and a 13.3 ratio. The Brook-KMI reported 28% free/reduced lunch eligible and a 3.3 ratio, but no test scores are supplied for it.
