Summary:

Georgetown, Kentucky, has 14 schools—eight elementary, three middle and three high schools—in the Scott County district. The 2025–2026 results show some schools above state levels in particular subjects, but performance varies sharply even among schools serving the same grade. The most important finding is the wide same-grade gap: 5th-grade writing ranges from 6% at Southern Elementary School to 59% at Western Elementary School, while 8th-grade writing ranges from 38% at Georgetown Middle School to 81% at Scott County Middle School.

Scott County Middle School is the clearest broad standout, exceeding state results in all 10 reported middle-school comparisons; its 8th-grade writing was 81% versus 48% statewide. By contrast, Georgetown Middle School was below state results in most comparisons, including 8th-grade reading (34% versus 40%). Among elementary schools, Northern Elementary led 3rd-grade math and reading, while Eastern Elementary led several 5th-grade subjects. Southern Elementary had the lowest result in 8 of 10 comparable elementary subject-and-grade results. At high school, Scott County High School led in math, reading, writing and social studies; Great Crossing High School led in science and editing and mechanics.

Changes over time were mixed: average school scores rose 8 points at Northern Elementary and 7 at Creekside Elementary across their available matched results, but fell 6 at Georgetown Middle. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile ranking rose from the 66th to the 82nd percentile for Scott County High, while Southern Elementary fell from the 22nd to the 9th. Student-teacher ratios do not neatly predict results: Scott County Middle had the highest middle-school ratio, 17.1, and the strongest results, while Georgetown Middle had the lowest, 13.9, and generally weaker results. As context, 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible shares were 68% at Southern Elementary and 58% at Northern Elementary; these figures describe schools and do not explain their test results.
