Summary:
Zip code 66006 has two elementary schools serving 641 students: Baldwin Elementary Primary Center serves prekindergarten through grade 2, and Baldwin Elementary Intermediate Center serves grades 3–5. The Intermediate Center is the only school with reported test results, so the data cannot show which school performs better overall. Its 2025–26 all-grades results were above state results in every subject, but the most important finding is that its advantage has narrowed sharply.
The Intermediate Center stands out for being above the state overall, by 5 points in ELA, 4 in math, and 3 in science. But results vary by grade: grade 3 math was 5 points above the state and grade 5 ELA was 3 points above, while grade 4 math was 5 points below, grade 5 science was 5 points below, and grade 4 ELA was 2 points below. The Primary Center cannot be placed above or below it academically because it has no reported scores. Both schools had lower chronic absenteeism than the state: 13% at the Primary Center and 16% at the Intermediate Center, compared with 18% statewide. Only the Primary Center was below the district rate: its rate was 0.3 points below the district’s 12.9%, while the Intermediate Center was 3 points above it.
The Intermediate Center’s scores fell as its advantage over the state shrank. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, its ELA result dropped 4 points, math dropped 3, and science dropped 21; state ELA and math results rose 1 and 2 points, while state science fell 3. Its average lead over the state across the three subjects narrowed from 13 points to 4. SchoolDigger’s ranking also declined, from 193rd of 653 schools and the 70th percentile in 2023–24 to 338th of 657 and the 49th percentile in 2025–26. The schools differ in other measures: the Primary Center has 89 more students, a lower student–teacher ratio (16.5 versus 18.2), and a 33% free/reduced-lunch rate compared with 34% at the Intermediate Center; these are observations, not explanations of achievement.
