Summary

Pleasanton High serves 162 students in grades 7–12 in Pleasanton, Kansas. Its 2025–26 test proficiency rates improved on earlier years, but remained below the state in English Language Arts (ELA), math, and science. The most important concern is that Pleasanton had the lowest all-grade proficiency of the three nearby schools in all three subjects.

ELA is the clearest weakness against the state: 21% of Pleasanton students were proficient, compared with 46% statewide and 26% in the Pleasanton district; nearby Prairie View High and Jayhawk-Linn High scored 44% and 34%. Math was 19% at Pleasanton, versus 41% statewide and 26% in the district. A striking subgroup result is the Low Socio Economic Status Students ranking: SchoolDigger placed this group in the 83rd percentile, compared with the school’s overall 28th percentile, up from the subgroup’s 21st percentile in 2023–24. Pleasanton’s 2024–25 student-teacher ratio was 11.4, higher than the nearby-school average of 10.1, and its free/reduced-lunch rate was 58%, compared with 49% nearby. Chronic absenteeism fell from 38% in 2022–23 to 7% in 2025–26, below the state’s 18% but above the district’s 4%. Pleasanton’s enrollment is small, and the nearby schools have different grade spans, so individual grade-level results merit caution.
