Summary

F L Schlagle High is a Kansas City, Kansas, district high school serving 841 students in grades 9–12. In 2025–2026, only 7% of students were proficient in English language arts (ELA), 5% in math, and 4% in science; chronic absenteeism was 64%, compared with 39% in the Kansas City district and 18% statewide. The combination of very low proficiency and persistently high absenteeism is the school’s most important concern for families.

Schlagle is near the bottom among nearby Kansas City district high schools, though its standing varies by subject: it ranked second-lowest in ELA, third-lowest in math, and lowest in science among six schools.
