Summary:

Renwick has six schools: four elementary schools serving PK–8 and two high schools serving grades 9–12. SchoolDigger gives the district 5 stars and ranks it 17th of 268 Kansas districts, in the 94th percentile. In 2025–26, the elementary schools averaged 63% proficient in English language arts (ELA), 58% in math, and 47% in science, compared with state results of 46%, 41%, and 38%. The clearest area-wide strength is elementary ELA and math: the average school results were about 17 percentage points above the state in both subjects.

No one school leads in every subject. Colwich Elementary led elementary ELA at 66%, while Garden Plain Elementary led math at 63% and St. Marks School led science at 56%. Colwich was lowest in math at 54% and science at 40%; its science result was only 2 points above the state. Among high schools, Garden Plain High led ELA at 51% and science at 47%, while Andale High led math at 46%; Garden Plain High scored 36% in math. SchoolDigger ranks Andale Elementary-Middle 80th of 657 elementary schools (88th percentile), and ranks Garden Plain High 67th of 340 high schools (80th percentile).

Recent trends are mixed: the six-school average in ELA rose 2 points from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while math fell 5 points; the four elementary schools’ science average fell 8 points. The math decline stands out because the state result rose 2 points; Garden Plain High fell 18 points, while St. Marks School was the only school whose math result rose. School context also differs: Colwich Elementary enrolls 227 students, has a 10.2-to-1 student-teacher ratio, and a 28% free/reduced-lunch rate; Garden Plain Elementary enrolls 445 and has an 18.1-to-1 ratio. These measures describe different settings, but the results do not point to one factor that predicts which school leads.
