Haven Public Schools

The three schools in Haven Public Schools serve students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Haven Elementary has 348 students, Haven Middle School has 118, and Haven High has 223. The most important area-wide pattern is that science is a strength while math is the greatest academic challenge: the schools’ equal-weight average is 12 percentage points above the state in science, but 6 points below it in math.

Haven Elementary is the strongest in the latest all-grades results, leading the three schools in ELA (52%), math (46%), and science (63%); it is also above the state in each subject. Haven High has the lowest ELA (38%) and math (29%) results, while Haven Middle School is in between in those subjects (41% and 30%). All three schools exceed the state in science. Elementary’s grade 5 results are especially strong, including math 12 points above the state, but its grade 6 ELA is 9 points below; High’s grade 10 ELA and math are 3 and 8 points below the state. Because the schools serve different grades, their all-grades scores are descriptive rather than direct comparisons.

Recent test-score changes vary by school and subject: from 2024–25 to 2025–26, Elementary gained 6 points in ELA, 3 in math, and 25 in science; Middle gained 2 in ELA and 11 in science but fell 7 in math; High gained 2 in ELA and fell 3 in math. SchoolDigger’s latest statewide rankings place Elementary at the 59th percentile, High at the 60th, and Middle at the 42nd; over three years, Elementary rose 10 percentile points and Middle 12, while High fell 21 from its earlier standing. Other measures offer useful context: absenteeism is 22% at Elementary, 10% at High, and 6% at Middle, compared with 18% statewide. High’s 94% graduation rate exceeds the state’s 90%. Student-teacher ratios are 13.2 at Elementary, 13.1 at Middle, and 9.2 at High; free/reduced-lunch rates are 51%, 46%, and 36%, respectively.
