Summary:

School City of Hobart serves about 3,978 students across six schools—four elementary (including a PK–K early learning center), one middle school, and one high school—and is ranked 112th of 374 Indiana districts with a 4-star rating. Enrollment is concentrated at the secondary level: Hobart High School has 1,320 students, Hobart Middle School has 905, and the four elementary schools together have 1,753. The smallest is Early Learning Center-George Earle with 264 PK–K students. Data coverage is strong: current rank history, chronic absenteeism, free/reduced lunch, per-student spending, and student-teacher ratios are available for all six schools; test scores are available for all except the PK–K center, which has no current ILEARN/SAT results.

Among the standouts, Liberty Elementary School has the strongest elementary math (58.68% in 2025–2026 vs. the district’s 43.24%) and the lowest chronic absenteeism at 5.2%. Veterans Elementary School at Mundell made the largest year-over-year jump, from 46th to 63rd percentile, with broad test-score gains despite the district’s highest free/reduced lunch rate (67.68%) and lowest per-student spending ($10,076). Joan Martin Elementary School is the most balanced, with strong science (44.44%) and 5th-grade social studies (58.70%) and a rank improvement to 65th percentile. Hobart Middle School posts exceptional Biology EOC proficiency (81.71% vs. district 47.83%), though its math and science are below district. Hobart High School has a strong 94.5% graduation rate and above-state SAT ERW (55.66%), but SAT Math is 19.18% vs. state 25.6%, and Biology is 33.51%.

All schools are below Indiana’s 16.7% chronic absenteeism rate, but Hobart High School is highest at 14.9%, nearly three times Liberty Elementary School’s 5.2%. The three grade 1–5 elementaries improved their rank percentiles in 2025–2026, while the middle school was stable and the high school improved but remained below its 2023–2024 mark. Spending and student-teacher ratios do not track neatly with outcomes: the high school spends the most ($12,431) but has weaker math and Biology, while Veterans spends the least ($10,076) yet posts solid, improving results. The district is rated 4 stars and 70th percentile, but every regular school with a current rank is 3 stars and between 57th and 65th percentiles.
