There are three middle schools in Carmel Clay Schools in Indiana — Creekside Middle School, Clay Middle School, and Carmel Middle School — all serving grades 6–8, with a combined enrollment of 3,890 students. Every one of the three middle schools also earns 5 stars and ranks in at least the 94th percentile statewide. This is a comparison among elite schools, not a comparison against average ones.

Creekside Middle School is the standout, ranked #1 in Indiana for middle schools in each of the last three reported years (1st of 486 in 2025–2026). It leads the group in proficiency (ELA 79.36%, Math 78.72%, Science 79.03%), has the lowest chronic absenteeism (3.7%) and the lowest free/reduced lunch rate (8.68%). Clay Middle School ranks 5th of 486 and is strongest in 8th grade, where Math (70.95%) and ELA (73.61%) top district averages. Carmel Middle School is the smallest and ranks 31st of 486 (94th percentile, 5 stars), with its weakest results in 7th grade Math (50.00%) and 8th grade Math (48.85%) — still above state averages.

Math is the widest differentiator: Creekside outperforms Carmel by 24.50 percentage points in all-grade Math. Chronic absenteeism is low everywhere — 3.7%, 4.6%, and 7.4% — all far below the state's 16.7%. Year-over-year trends are mixed: Creekside gained in ELA but slipped in Math and Science from a very high base, Clay improved in ELA and Science, and Carmel declined slightly in all three subjects.
