Open Quote We could not be happier with this school. The staff and administration are incredible - kind, giving, patient, fun, organized, and intelligent. The community is supportive and positive, too. It's a gem. Close Quote

Open Quote I would have posted this review earlier, but it was in my notes to do for 2012. We were part of the Dirksen community in the past and looked forward to moving beyond Dirksen. Part of my New Year resolution is to give credit where credit is due and to get some complaints off my chest. Unfortunately, this is one of the complaints. SD54 represents Dirksen as one of its better schools and I would say it's in the bottom 25%. I hope Dirksen turns around in the future. Hopefully it is not representative of the district as a whole. About Student-Teacher Ratio
Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
