Summary

Henrys Fork Elementary is a PK–5 school in Saint Anthony, Idaho, serving 569 students as part of the Fremont County Joint District, making it the largest elementary school in its immediate area. It also serves a high-poverty population: 64.67% of students qualified for free/reduced lunch in 2024-2025, the highest rate among all nearby schools and more than double that of Hibbard Elementary in the Madison District. By comparison, its same-district peers, Parker-Egin Elementary (95 students) and Teton Elementary (124 students), serve much smaller, less impoverished student bodies.

Academically, Henrys Fork is struggling. In 2025-2026, it ranked in the 15th percentile of Idaho elementary schools with a 1-star rating, down from the 35th percentile the prior year. Math proficiency fell from 45.5% to 35.5% and ELA from 45.5% to 40.1% — both below district and state averages. The gaps are especially wide in 5th grade, where just 26.4% of students are proficient in math and 32.2% in science. Its same-district counterparts far outperform it: Teton Elementary posts 58.6% math proficiency and Parker-Egin 53.3%, ranking in the 61st and 70th percentiles, respectively. Even Kershaw Intermediate, serving a similarly high-poverty population in the Sugar-Salem Joint District, achieves much stronger results.

There are bright spots. Chronic absenteeism has dropped from 19.3% in 2022-2023 to 10.7% in 2025-2026, now better than both district (12.2%) and state (13.8%) averages. The school also spends more per student ($7,962) than most nearby schools, so resources are not the main obstacle. Most importantly, Henrys Fork's 2024-2025 scores showed it capable of exceeding state averages in math and science. The coming year will reveal whether the sharp 2025-2026 decline was a temporary dip or the start of a longer trend.
