While Castle High School has seen some challenges in recent years, including a decline in its 4-year graduation rate from 83.8% in 2023-2024 to 81.0% in 2024-2025, and a high chronic absenteeism rate of 32.0% in 2024-2025, the school's academic performance, as measured by proficiency rates in Smarter Balanced Assessments and HSA/Biology I, is generally lower than nearby high-performing schools like Moanalua High School and President Theodore Roosevelt High School. For example, in 2024-2025, Castle High School had 56% proficiency in ELA, 14% in Math, and 23% in Biology I, compared to Moanalua High School's 72% in ELA, 32% in Math, and 50% in Biology I.

The data also reveals that Castle High School's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, suggesting the need for targeted interventions and a focus on equity to ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed. Additionally, the school's statewide ranking has declined over the past 10 years, from a high of 11th in 2018-2019 to its current 35th ranking, indicating that the school may be facing challenges in maintaining or improving its performance.

Open Quote As a parent of a high schooler, I was very disappointed with the education that my children were receiving at Castle. The education staff, was especially not helpful, so I removed my children from the school.
Unfortunately, many of the staff (not all) are not there to support your children. Close Quote
