Johnson Health Science and Engineering Magnet School, just 0.15 miles away, boasts a 100% graduation rate, 7.5% chronic absenteeism, and 50.4% Algebra I proficiency. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet, 0.57 miles away, ranks in the 96th percentile statewide. Laney's per-student spending of $13,004 is higher than several neighboring comprehensive high schools like Glenn Hills ($12,180) and Westside ($12,192), yet outcomes remain lower. One bright spot: in 2020-2021, Laney achieved an 83% graduation rate, exceeding the district average, suggesting the school is capable of better results under certain conditions. The recent improvements in attendance and test scores may signal the start of a positive trend, but sustained progress will be essential.
