Summary

Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School is a public high school serving grades 6-12 in Augusta, Georgia, part of the Richmond County School District. With 431 students, the school has consistently outperformed the district and state averages on standardized tests, particularly in subjects like American Literature and Composition. Its strong 4-year graduation rate, ranging from 78% to 100% in recent years, also exceeds the district average.

Compared to other magnet schools in the area, such as Davidson Magnet School and Johnson Magnet, Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School performs well but not as strongly. These other magnet schools consistently rank higher in the state and have higher proficiency rates on standardized assessments. However, the school's relatively low student-teacher ratio, ranging from 9.2 to 14.9, may contribute to its academic success.

Despite its overall strong performance, the school's statewide ranking and rating from SchoolDigger have fluctuated over the years, indicating that its performance is not entirely consistent. Additionally, the school serves a population with a high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients, suggesting it caters to students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Nonetheless, Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School appears to be a relatively strong-performing option for students in the Augusta area, particularly when compared to some of the lower-performing high schools in the Richmond County School District.

Open Quote Having worked as a substitute for three years in the Richmond County School district in over thirty different schools, I think I have a unique perspective of the quality and kind of education you will find here. My five star rating is also based on 28 years of teaching in another state and 34 years in military, four years as a liaison for the United States Air Force Academy. I was introduced to STEM, (science, technology, engineering and math) in 2000 as a member of the International Education And Resource Network. I gave presentations on the integration of technology in conferences in Japan, Egypt and Senegal. STEM initiatives were launched in Georgia in 2005. TCM business partners provide funding and guidance to increase the number of students who pursue majors and careers in the field of science, technology, engineering and math. Overall the district rates an "A" in STEM initiatives, however there must be a number one school who encompasses those ideals of STEM. That school is The Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School. Its' programs are designed to attract a variety of interests. from culinary arts, cyber security, audio visual and film technology, computer networking, energy and electronics. But these are the pathways that are designed to secure a job, especially with dual enrollment at Augusta Tech, positioned next to the campus. TCM has after, before and during the school day clubs that attract interests in aeronautical engineering, non-kit rocketry, flight school, design lab, solar energy, and much more. Want to find out more, visit the campus! One look and you'll be hooked.
