Summary

Parkview High School in Lilburn, GA, is a large, high-performing public school serving 3,216 students in grades 9-12 within the Gwinnett County School District. Parkview has earned a 4-star rating in seven of the past eight years and currently ranks in the 84th percentile statewide, placing it among the top high schools in Georgia.

Academically, Parkview is a clear standout compared to nearby schools. In the most recent testing, Parkview posted proficiency rates of 65.9% in Algebra I, 59.7% in Biology, and 45.1% in U.S. History—all well above district and state averages. These results are more than double those of nearby Meadowcreek High School and Berkmar High School. Parkview also nearly matches the outcomes of Brookwood High School, the area's other academic leader, despite serving a student body with a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students (56% qualifying for free/reduced lunch). Notably, Parkview ranks in the 90th percentile statewide for English Language Learner students—an exceptional achievement—and in the 94th percentile for African American students. The school's graduation rate of 88.7% exceeds both district and state averages.

One challenge stands out: Parkview's chronic absenteeism rate is 21.1%, significantly higher than the district (15.0%) and state (17.7%) averages. This is especially striking because Brookwood High School has a much lower rate of 14.4%. Yet Parkview continues to achieve top-quartile academic results despite this obstacle, demonstrating effective instructional strategies and strong support systems. The school also operates efficiently, spending $12,145 per student—less than most nearby schools—while delivering superior outcomes. For parents, Parkview offers a proven track record of academic excellence, particularly for diverse student populations, though attendance is an area families may want to monitor closely.

Open Quote The MJROTC gunny and sergeant use very profane language and many teachers showed a lack of interest in helping black students. This school is also only 8 percent black which makes many black students feel left out and uncomfortable. Other than that the food is great and the rest rooms are cleaner than any other rest room I have ever seen in a public school. Great job to their amzing custodial staff and lunch ladies.
