This school stands out for achieving strong academic results while serving a student body where nearly two-thirds qualify for free or reduced lunch. Mountain Park outperforms nearby schools with similar demographics by a wide margin—for example, Knight Elementary (69.6% poverty) ranks nearly 200 spots lower, and Shiloh Elementary (83.3% poverty) ranks 239 spots lower. The school nearly matches the performance of schools with far less poverty, such as Gwin Oaks and Head Elementary. Mountain Park also ranks 19th out of 214 schools statewide for English Language Learner performance (91st percentile) and in the top 8% of Georgia schools for African American student achievement. Chronic absenteeism has dropped dramatically to 8.7%, well below the district average of 15.0% and state average of 17.7%.

In mathematics, Mountain Park excels in the early grades—3rd grade proficiency is 67.2% and 4th grade is 68.2%, both well above district and state averages. However, 5th grade math dips to 53.9%, a pattern that has persisted for several years. This is notable when compared to Camp Creek Elementary, just 1.45 miles away, which posts 73.4% proficiency in 5th grade math. The school also spends less per student ($14,540) than several lower-performing nearby schools, suggesting efficient resource use. While the school shows exceptional results for most student groups, Asian students rank in the 18th percentile statewide—an area worth monitoring. Overall, Mountain Park delivers consistent, top-quartile performance despite demographic challenges, making it a compelling option for families in the Lilburn area.

Open Quote I quickly learned that teacher can be bullies too. If your child has any sort o disabilities they will quickly sweep it under the rug . It also goes higher then the teacher. Their tactics are to isolate to single out the child iin front of other students to humiliate in the hopes of scareing them into subumission. My child became sick and depressed and stop eating from this so called protocols.... so if you think the children are the bullies think again.. I could go into details but I will stop here. Ask that parents be your child's advocate until they are able to do stand up for themselves. I have taking my child out of this school and is doing great! My child is learning on a much higher level now and is backed to self sweet and happy. Make sure that the school you send your children to is really about the childrens best interest and not just about the schools image winning awards. Close Quote
