Open Quote I was fortunate to have two students attend Arabia Mountain HS (AMHS). My oldest graduated with the class of 2014, and the youngest will graduate this year (class of 2017). My oldest is a junior in college and has told me that the rigor at AMHS prepared him for his college workload. The leadership at the high school fosters a sense of community, and a partnership between parents, teachers and students. There are numerous ways for parents to get involved and earn the required 20 volunteer hours. I absolutely love AMHS and the fact that my children have received a quality education, in our neighborhood. Our principal, Dr. Swanson is phenomenal. He has provided great leadership and stability for the school.
Like any school, you may have to work harder (with some teachers) to have good parent/teacher communication. Some teachers go above and beyond, and communicate well. Others, have a different communication style and may require more effort on the parent’s part. But once you find the “rhythm” that works for both, it is fine.

I would strongly recommend that parents and their students check eSis or Infinite Campus (the online grading portal) several times per week. It is easier to catch missed assignments (aka "Zero's") and/or grading errors, if you monitor it frequently.

We have also been very fortunate to have a solid PTSA leadership since the school opened. The executive boards (made up of parent volunteers) have been very professional and have done a great job running the PTSA. Each new school year brings new PTSA leadership, I hope that the legacy of strong PTSA leadership continues. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
