Summary

Four Corners Charter School is a K-5 elementary school in Davenport, FL, serving 1,103 students within the Osceola school district. This school stands out as a consistent bright spot in a district that ranks near the bottom of Florida, having improved from a 2-star rating to a stable 3-star rating over the past five years. Its current state ranking places it in the 54th percentile, significantly outperforming its district's average standing and making it an academic island of relative success in a local area of struggling schools.

Academically, Four Corners Charter School consistently exceeds district averages across nearly every subject and grade level. Its 3rd-grade math performance is particularly impressive, with 72% of students proficient in the most recent school year—well above the state average and higher than nearby schools like Westside K-8 School and Island Village Elementary School. However, the school shows a pattern where academic proficiency peaks in 3rd grade and declines in 4th and 5th grades, suggesting a challenge in sustaining growth through upper elementary. The school achieves these results with lower per-student spending ($8,638) compared to high-performing peers like Celebration K-8 ($10,098) and Davenport School Of The Arts ($10,387).

Despite its academic strengths, the school faces significant operational challenges. The student-to-teacher ratio spiked dramatically from 16.5:1 to 34.4:1 in a single year—more than double the state average and far higher than any nearby school. Chronic absenteeism is also a major concern, with a rate of 38.6% that is notably higher than Celebration K-8 (18.5%) and Davenport School Of The Arts (16.6%). The school's ability to maintain its upward trajectory will likely depend on addressing these issues, especially the unsustainable class sizes.

Open Quote As a former teacher at this school let me tell you about this school. BEWARE OF THIS SCHOOL! They don't care about the kids or the teachers. They don't invest in curriculum for the kids and basically have no resources. All they care about is helping the kids that may bring the school score up come FSA testing season. They don't care about the super low kids or the super high kids. They are all about testing and it is disgusting. DO NOT send your child to this school! Close Quote

Open Quote This school is terrible. This school needs to be audited by the authorities and maybe closed down. Students have a new teacher about every week or two, management does not care, they have no respect for parents, they say things will improve, but after a long time, things has not improved yet. This school is a joke. Most teachers do not have a Teaching certificates for the subject they are teaching, students who work harder are penalized and continuously graded way below their real capabilities. There is one teacher who is specially heinous when it comes to grading students, her name is Andrea Fells, and you complain about her, they just say, "do not worry, she is only a substitute teacher, she will be replaced soon", which we found hypocritical since she is the only teacher that has been there since the beginning, while almost everybody else lasts a couple of weeks and then leave. This school needs to be investigated. Close Quote
