The city of Kissimmee, Florida, is home to 53 public and charter schools within the Osceola school district, serving students from elementary through high school in a community marked by stark contrasts in academic performance.

Kissimmee’s school landscape is a tale of two extremes. The district itself ranks in the bottom 30% of Florida, but it contains some of the state’s very best schools. The top performers are specialized magnet and charter high schools: Neocity Academy (ranked 4th in Florida), Osceola County School For The Arts (39th), and Professional & Technical High School (58th) all boast 100% graduation rates and near-perfect test scores. In contrast, traditional comprehensive high schools like Tohopekaliga High School, Poinciana High School, Osceola High School, and Gateway High School all have graduation rates between 95% and 98%, still above the state average. The most challenged schools are alternative programs like Main Street High School (35.3% graduation rate) and New Beginnings Education Center (0% graduation rate).

Chronic absenteeism is the single most powerful predictor of a school’s health. Top schools like Osceola County School For The Arts (9.0%) and Sports Leadership Arts Management (Slam) (10.8%) have very low rates, while struggling schools often exceed 50%. A notable "middle school math slump" appears across many schools, with 7th-grade math proficiency dropping sharply—for example, at Westside K-8 School it falls to just 11%. Bright spots include East Lake Elementary School and Reedy Creek Elementary School, which achieve strong results despite moderate poverty levels, offering models for success within the district.
