Middle Schools in Stamford School District

The Stamford School District includes five public middle schools — Rippowam Middle School, Scofield Middle School, Dolan School, Turn of River School, and Cloonan School — serving grades 6 through 8 with a combined enrollment of 2,910 students, in a district ranked 129th out of 153 in Connecticut, where schools serve economically diverse but predominantly low-income populations with free or reduced-price lunch eligibility ranging from 49.2% to 62.1%.

Scofield Middle School is the district's clear standout, ranking 126th out of 258 Connecticut middle schools at the 51st percentile — the only Stamford middle school above the state median, while the other four sit in the bottom quarter. Scofield Middle School leads in every academic category with 48.9% ELA, 36.5% math, and 58.1% science proficiency, and it has the lowest chronic absenteeism at 10.4%. In contrast, Rippowam Middle School spends the most per student at $18,882 yet posts the lowest math average at 16.1% and has declined from the 21st to the 17th percentile over three years.
