Summary

University Schools is a public charter school located in Greeley, Colorado that serves grades K-12 with a total enrollment of 1,751 students. The school is part of the Greeley School District No. 6, which is ranked 100 out of 115 districts in Colorado and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

University Schools consistently outperforms the Greeley School District No. 6 in academic achievement, particularly in science, English language arts, and certain math grades, suggesting the school is providing a higher-quality education compared to the district average. When compared to other nearby charter schools, such as Frontier Charter Academy and District 6 Online Academy, University Schools performs similarly or better in most academic areas, indicating it is a strong charter school option in the Greeley area. However, the school's high chronic absenteeism rate, ranging from 21.6% to 34.4% in 2023-2024, is a concern and may be impacting the school's overall academic performance.

The relatively high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 32.72% to 44.89% over the past few years, suggests that University Schools serves a population with lower socioeconomic status. This may contribute to the school's academic challenges, and the school should consider strategies to support these students. Overall, University Schools appears to be a strong-performing charter school within the Greeley School District, with higher academic achievement compared to the district and state averages, but the school should focus on addressing its high chronic absenteeism rate and supporting its socioeconomically disadvantaged student population.

Open Quote My children do not fit into the bell curve, so to speak. They both have IEPs and learning and health challenges. My impression from 95% of the teachers in the middle and high schools was that they didn't have time to deal with my 2 children. After 4 years of fighting battles, dealing with prejudice teachers (even special education teachers), and inadequate leadership, I pulled my children from this school. Extremely disappointing. Open Quote We have been waiting to get our child into University for several years. She was finally drawn in the lottery last year. This is an amazing school where all students are cared about and teachers want them to be a success. We are so pleased with this school. Close Quote
