Summary

Colorado Preparatory Academy High School is a non-traditional virtual academy in Westminster, CO, serving 823 students in grades 9–12 as part of the Education Reenvisioned BOCES district. It shares an address with Pikes Peak Online School, but the two schools produce very different results. While the school's overall state ranking sits in the middle of the pack at the 38th percentile, a closer look reveals distinct strengths and some areas of concern.

Reading and writing are the school's clear academic strengths. On the 2025–26 PSAT9, 78% of 9th graders were proficient in reading and writing, well above the state average of 66%. SAT reading scores for 11th graders reached 62%, nearly matching Standley Lake High School's 75% despite that school ranking much higher overall — and far exceeding Northglenn High School (33%), Arvada High School (32%), and Westminster High School (40%). The contrast with Pikes Peak Online School is stark: that school graduates only 52.2% of students and has a 41.6% chronic absenteeism rate. With strong literacy outcomes, improving graduation rates, and exceptional support for low-income students, this is a school to watch — though reversing the downward trend in math and science will be key to improving its state ranking.
