Summary

High Point Academy is a public charter elementary and middle school in Aurora, Colorado, serving 671 students in grades PK-8. The school is part of the State Charter School Institute district, which is ranked 50 out of 115 districts in the state.

Despite being a public charter school, High Point Academy has consistently ranked in the bottom quartile of Colorado elementary schools over the past 10 years, with a 0-1 star rating from SchoolDigger. The school's proficiency rates on state assessments are significantly lower than the state and district averages across all grade levels and subject areas, ranging from 11-30% in English Language Arts and 11-22% in Math, compared to state averages of 39-49% and 32-41%, respectively. Additionally, the school has experienced relatively high dropout rates, ranging from 0.8% to 2.1%, and a chronic absenteeism rate of 25.9% to 28.5%, both of which are above the state average.

Interestingly, the nearby schools, such as SOAR at Green Valley Ranch, KIPP Northeast Elementary, and Lena Archuleta Elementary, also perform below the state average on various metrics, but generally outperform High Point Academy. The high percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch at High Point Academy and the nearby schools suggests that these schools serve a predominantly low-income student population, which can be a significant factor in academic achievement.

Open Quote My daughter has been attending HPA since preschool and I have to say is the best choice I made by choosing HPA for my daughter. She is in 5th grade now and she has been a straight A student ever since pre-k. Also, her teachers have been very influential in my daughter's life in making right decisions in her studies. Now I have a 10 month old baby boy and he will be attending HPA as well, as soon as he turns 3 years! Thanks HPA for all your focus on our kids academic goals! Close Quote

Open Quote My daughter has attended HPA since the school opened in 2006. We have loved being apart of the HP community, and are very excited to see where the development of our school will lead our students. I can't imagine sending her anywhere else. This school is worth checking out. Close Quote
