Pueblo County School District 70 serves roughly 10,386 students across 26 schools in the Pueblo, Colorado area — 13 elementary, 8 middle, 4 high, and 1 alternative/online program — and ranks 42nd of 115 Colorado districts with a 3-star rating. The district is mid-tier overall, with strong graduation rates but wide internal variation. The top academic performer is The Connect Charter School, which leads the district in middle school rankings (79th percentile), posts exceptional CMAS scores (66.5% ELA, 47.6% Math, 44.3% Science), and keeps chronic absenteeism at just 13.3%, less than half the district rate.

Among elementary schools, Cedar Ridge Elementary School is the top-ranked traditional school at the 71st percentile, with 56.6% ELA and 52.2% Math proficiency. Rye Elementary School is the most improved, climbing from the 52nd to 70th percentile and matching Cedar Ridge with 55.6% math proficiency. At the secondary level, Swallows Charter Academy High School ranks highest among high schools with 67% SAT Reading/Writing proficiency and the lowest poverty rate (32% free/reduced lunch). Rye High School shines in science (40.5% vs. 24.8% state average) with a 95.4% graduation rate. The large high schools — Pueblo West High School and Pueblo County High School — post excellent graduation rates (96.7% and 97.0%) but only 25–26% SAT math proficiency.

Chronic absenteeism is another concern — 31.6% district-wide versus 28.4% statewide — and the worst-attendance schools (Beulah Middle School at 51.9%, Liberty Point Elementary School at 47.2%, Craver Middle School at 45.0%) tend to score below average. Poverty is substantial, averaging about 52% free/reduced lunch, but Rye Elementary proves it doesn't dictate outcomes, earning top-tier results with 53.3% eligibility. Graduation rates are the district's clearest bright spot, with every traditional high school exceeding the 85.6% state rate by at least six points.
