Summary:

Littleton School District No. 6 serves approximately 12,770 students across 19 schools—12 elementary, 4 middle, and 3 high schools—in the south Denver metro area, ranking 8th out of 115 Colorado districts with a 5-star overall rating. This is a consistently high-performing district, with district CMAS ELA proficiency around 62% versus 44.7% statewide and math at 58% versus 37.3% statewide, yet the variation between schools is dramatic.

At the top, Littleton Academy is the district's standout, ranking in the 97th percentile with 77.2% ELA proficiency, a 2.6% chronic absenteeism rate, and a three-year climb from 102nd to 29th in state rankings. Lois Lenski Elementary (95th percentile) and Wilder Elementary (92nd percentile) are elite elementary options, while Newton Middle School leads the middle schools with 71.3% ELA and 70.2% math proficiency. Among high schools, Arapahoe High School (95% graduation, 84% SAT reading/writing) and Heritage High School (83% SAT reading/writing) are both 5-star schools with nearly identical enrollments of 1,748 students, though Arapahoe edges out Heritage in math and graduation rate. Sandburg Elementary showed the biggest one-year jump, rising from 188th to 109th with 73.4% math proficiency.

The district's biggest challenge is equity. Field Elementary sits at the bottom—25th percentile, 28.6% proficiency in ELA and math, 73.9% free/reduced lunch, and 30.1% chronic absenteeism—despite having the lowest student-teacher ratio in the district at 12.2. Littleton High School is the weakest high school at the 64th percentile with 31.4% chronic absenteeism and 62% SAT reading/writing, far behind Arapahoe and Heritage. Centennial Academy of Fine Arts Education and Littleton Prep Charter School also trail district norms. Poverty strongly tracks performance, with the highest free/reduced lunch schools posting the lowest scores, and science shows the widest gaps—68.6% proficiency at Ford Elementary versus just 15% at Field. Even high-achieving Arapahoe and Heritage struggle with chronic absenteeism above 19%, suggesting attendance is a district-wide issue worth watching.
