Summary

Wilder Elementary School is a K-5 school in Littleton, Colorado, serving 592 students in the highly rated Littleton School District No. 6. It ranks among Colorado's best elementary schools — most recently 76th of 943 statewide (92nd percentile, 5 stars) — and has finished in the top 100 for 9 of the last 10 years. Wilder's students significantly outperform district and state averages: 72.4% scored proficient in ELA and 69.8% in math, versus district rates of 62.1% and 58.4%, and state rates of 44.7% and 37.3%.

Among nearby schools, Wilder is the clear academic leader. Its closest competitor, Runyon Elementary School, posted 63.4% ELA and 63.6% math proficiency — roughly 9 and 6 points lower. Other nearby schools trail further: Dutch Creek Elementary School (61.9% ELA, 52.5% math), Normandy Elementary School (58.4% ELA, 50.8% math), and Leawood Elementary School (52.4% ELA, 46.9% math). Schools just 1.5–2.2 miles away, such as Grant Ranch Ece-8 School and Kaiser Elementary School, report math proficiency around 19–21%. Wilder also has the lowest chronic absenteeism in the area at 5.1% — far below the district's 16.0% and the state's 28.4% — and a low free/reduced lunch rate of 9.5%.

Wilder's Gifted and Talented program is a standout, ranking 10th statewide among about 120 schools serving gifted students. One noteworthy pattern: the school's advantage over the district narrows in upper grades. Third-grade math proficiency is 77% (15.5 points above the district), but by 5th grade it converges to 61.1% — exactly matching the district average. A similar, less dramatic trend appears in ELA. Wilder also has the highest student-teacher ratio among nearby schools (18.9:1), yet still produces the strongest outcomes. Though Wilder was once a top-20 Colorado school, it has settled into the top 100 in recent years, with a 2025-2026 rebound to 76th place signaling continued strength.

Open Quote My son moved into Wilder midway through his third grade year from out of state. . The kids have been kind and accepting, the teachers go out of their way to educate the students and the principal treats everyone as if they are the only parents there. It is a wonderful school with a healthy environment. As a former secondary teacher, i am pleased with his preparation for middle school, which he starts next year. Close Quote
