Summary:

ZIP code 93551 has 14 public schools: 11 elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. Thirteen report 2025–26 results in English language arts (ELA), math and science; the list also includes attendance, enrollment, student–teacher ratios and reported low-income measures. The unweighted averages across schools are about 44% proficient in ELA, 31% in math and 28% in science, compared with state results of 49%, 38% and 36%. These averages combine different grade spans, and Palmdale Discovery Center has no reported test scores. The most important takeaway is that results vary widely among schools, rather than showing one shared academic picture for the ZIP code.

Gregg Anderson Academy leads in ELA and math, with 70% and 62% proficient—about 21 and 23 percentage points above the state. Cottonwood Elementary leads in science at 54%, about 18 points above the state, and is also second in ELA and math. At the other end, Summerwind Elementary has the lowest ELA and science results: 19% and 13%, respectively, about 30 and 23 points below the state. David G. Millen Law and Government Magnet Academy has the lowest math result, 12%, about 26 points below the state. The gap between the highest and lowest school is 41 to 51 points, depending on subject.

Across the same schools, average results changed little from 2024–25 to 2025–26: ELA was essentially flat, math rose by about 0 points and science by about 2; state gains were about 0, 1 and 3 points, so the gap widened slightly. Gregg Anderson remained a leader despite declines of about 2 to 4 points across subjects, while Cottonwood’s science result rose 12 points as its ELA and math results fell. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile rank for Gregg moved from 89th to 84th, while Palmdale Learning Plaza rose from 47th to 55th. Reported free/reduced lunch eligible shares for 2024–25 were 32% at Gregg, 55% at Cottonwood and 82% at Summerwind; their student–teacher ratios were 26.2, 27.1 and 26.4, respectively. These figures offer context, not an explanation for school results.
