Summary:

ZIP code 93203 has six schools: four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, serving students from elementary through high school. The latest results are for school year 2025–2026, and school-to-school results vary by grade and subject. In the broad all-grades snapshot, the six-school averages were 31% in ELA, 17% in math and 16% in science, compared with state figures of 49%, 38% and 36%. The most important shared finding is that all three area averages fell below state results, by 18 percentage points in ELA, 21 in math and 20 in science.

At the all-grades level, Arvin High had the highest ELA result at 47% and science at 29%, while Sierra Vista Elementary led in math at 26%. The lowest reported results were Bear Mountain Elementary in ELA at 20%, Arvin in math at 10%, and Haven Drive Middle in science at 11%. Among elementary schools, El Camino Real Elementary led in ELA and math in three of the four grades from 3rd through 6th; Sierra Vista led in all three tested subjects in 5th grade. El Camino’s 6th-grade ELA result was 53%, 5 points above the state’s 48%.

Results changed unevenly between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026: Sierra Vista improved in all three all-grades subjects, while Haven Drive and Di Giorgio Elementary declined in all three. Across the six schools, average math and science results fell by about 2 points each, while ELA was essentially flat; state results rose in all three subjects. SchoolDigger rankings also moved in different directions: from 2023–2024 to 2025–2026, Sierra Vista rose from 15 to 24 and El Camino from 23 to 28, while Haven Drive fell from 40 to 21 and Bear Mountain from 9 to 5. As context, Bear Mountain’s student-teacher ratio was 20.2 (school year 2024–2025), compared with 22.6 at El Camino and Sierra Vista. Five schools reported a free/reduced lunch eligible measure ranging from 88.5% to 96.5% (school year 2024–2025); these figures describe context, not the reason for school results. Because schools serve different grades, all-grades comparisons are broad snapshots, while matched-grade comparisons offer a fairer view.
