Summary:
Schools in ZIP code 92596 include eight schools—six elementary schools, one high school and one alternative school—serving students from elementary through high school. Six schools have 2025–2026 results; across them, average proficiency was above the state rate in English language arts (ELA), math and science by about 6, 3 and 4 percentage points, respectively. But results vary considerably from school to school: the most important finding is that the area average hides a wide gap between the highest- and lowest-performing schools.
Summit Academy led the six schools in all three subjects in 2025–2026, with 66% proficient in ELA, 61% in math and 59% in science. It outscored the next-highest school, French Valley Elementary, by about 5 points in ELA, 5 in math and 8 in science. At the other end, Winchester Elementary had the lowest results in all three subjects: 42% in ELA, 23% in math and 20% in science. Summit’s lead over Winchester was about 24 points in ELA, 39 in math and 38 in science. In the prior year, Temecula Preparatory stood out with 73% in ELA, the highest among schools with 2024–2025 results.
Across the same six schools, average results changed little between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026: ELA fell by about 1 point, while math and science each rose by about 1 point. The group’s advantage over the state narrowed in all three subjects, most in science. SchoolDigger rankings also moved in different directions: French Valley rose from the 73rd to the 79th percentile, while Harvest Hill S.T.E.A.M. Academy fell from the 68th to the 63rd. All eight schools reported free/reduced lunch eligible figures for 2024–2025, ranging from 16% at Temecula Preparatory to 79% at Winchester; these figures are context, not an explanation for test results. Summit and French Valley have similar enrollments, but Summit’s student-teacher ratio is 24.6 versus 22.2 at French Valley. Liberty High has a mixed picture: a 98% graduation rate, but math proficiency of 23%, below the state rate.
