Summary

Susan La Vorgna Elementary is a K-5 public school serving 649 students in Winchester, CA, within the high-performing Temecula Valley Unified School District, where it currently ranks in the 66th percentile statewide.

Academically, the school performs above California's average in English and Math but falls short of its own district's standards, with a notably low score in Science compared to nearby schools like Alamos Elementary and Summit Academy. Performance varies significantly among different student groups, and there has been a recent, sharp decline in support for students in special education. While the school spends more per student than comparable schools in the district, this higher investment has not led to superior academic outcomes, creating a notable performance-resourcing paradox.

The school has seen a rapid increase in students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, which coincides with a gradual decline in its statewide ranking from a peak a decade ago. Challenges include a higher-than-average chronic absenteeism rate and a significant drop in math proficiency between 3rd and 5th grades. Compared to other schools in Temecula Valley Unified, such as Nicolas Valley Elementary and French Valley Elementary, Susan La Vorgna represents the lower-performing tier within its district, indicating specific areas for potential improvement and strategic support.

Open Quote As I live in front of the school I have to say people are amazingly quiet coming and going to school each school day. I thank you very much for this however my side yard landscaping gets messed up onto sidewalk as well as litter is left by people. Close Quote
