Summary:

The 92553 list includes 19 schools—12 elementary, two middle, four high schools, and one alternative school—serving students across elementary, middle, and high-school grades; 18 have 2025–26 test scores. Across those schools, average proficiency is 29% in English language arts (ELA), 17% in math, and 15% in science, compared with state rates of 49%, 38%, and 36%. The clearest area-wide finding is that all three subject averages trail the state, by about 20 points in ELA and 21 points in both math and science.

Bear Valley Elementary leads the K–5 schools in ELA and math, with 43% and 36% proficient; its math result is 20 points above the K–5 low at Sunnymead Elementary. TownGate Elementary leads in science at 29%, the highest school result in the area. Among the two 9–12 high schools with current scores, Moreno Valley High is ahead of March Mountain High by 16 points in ELA, 12 in math, and 12 in science. At the lower end, Bayside Community Day has the lowest ELA result at 14%, while March Mountain is lowest in math at 0% and science at 2%; Bayside serves grades 7–12 in an alternative setting, so it is not a like-for-like high-school comparison.

Recent changes vary by school: TownGate Elementary gained 9 points in science from 2024–25 to 2025–26, while Garvey/Allen Visual & Performing Arts Academy for STEM fell 12 points in that subject. SchoolDigger’s statewide percentile for Edgemont Elementary rose from the 1st to the 11th percentile over three years, alongside gains in all three subjects in the latest year. School profiles do not follow a simple pattern by class size or reported income measure: Bear Valley Elementary leads K–5 in two subjects despite a 25.7 student–teacher ratio, and reports 89% free/reduced lunch eligible in 2024–25; Hendrick Ranch Elementary has a lower ratio of 22.7 and 88% free/reduced lunch eligible that year, but its science proficiency is 11%.
