ZIP code 92315 has five schools serving kindergarten through grade 12: two elementary schools, one middle school, and two high schools, including a continuation school. All are part of Bear Valley Unified, and enrollment ranges from 33 students at Chautauqua High (Continuation) to 630 at Big Bear High. Results vary considerably across schools: the clearest overall finding is that Big Bear High leads in English language arts (ELA) and science, while mathematics is the group’s weakest subject relative to the state.

In 2025–2026, Big Bear High posted 69% in ELA and 52% in science, respectively 20 and 16 percentage points above state results. Its mathematics result was 33%, below the state’s 38%. North Shore Elementary had the group’s top mathematics result at 35%, still 3 points below the state. The elementary schools reported similar free/reduced lunch-eligible shares for 2024–2025—70% at North Shore and 71% at Baldwin Lane—alongside different fifth-grade subject results.
