Summary:

ZIP code 92315 has two elementary schools in Bear Valley Unified, both serving kindergarten through fifth grade: North Shore Elementary and Baldwin Lane Elementary. In 2025–2026, neither school reached the state proficiency rate in all-grades ELA, math, or science. Across the two schools, the average was about 43% in ELA, 33% in math, and 30% in science, compared with state rates of about 49%, 38%, and 36%. The most important area-wide finding is that both schools remain below state results in every all-grades subject, with the largest average shortfall in ELA.

There is no single school leading across subjects: Baldwin Lane leads ELA at about 45% and science at about 33%, ahead of North Shore by about 4 and 7 percentage points, respectively. North Shore is stronger in math, at about 35% versus Baldwin’s 32%, a 3-point lead. Both schools’ weakest grade-level results include fifth-grade math: about 26% at North Shore and 19% at Baldwin, compared with about 37% statewide. A bright spot for Baldwin is third-grade ELA, about 2 points above the state rate.

Recent changes are mixed, and the schools’ position relative to the state worsened in math and science. From 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, North Shore’s results fell about 1 point in ELA, 1 in math, and 4 in science; Baldwin rose about 1 point in ELA and 5 in science, while math was essentially unchanged. SchoolDigger gives North Shore the 44th statewide percentile and Baldwin the 47th, with two stars apiece. Their reported 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible figures were about 70% at North Shore and 71% at Baldwin; this is context, not an explanation for results. North Shore enrolls 517 students with a 23.1 student–teacher ratio, compared with 445 students and a 24.4 ratio at Baldwin. Chronic absenteeism was about 18% at North Shore and 26% at Baldwin, despite Baldwin’s stronger ELA and science scores.
