Summary

Browns Valley Elementary is a high-performing K-6 public school serving 806 students in the Vacaville Unified School District, consistently ranking among the top schools in the area with a 4-star rating.

The school stands out for its strong academic results, where student proficiency in English, Math, and Science is significantly higher than both the district and state averages. It shows particular strength in supporting all students, achieving excellent results for students in special education and ranking highly for Hispanic students statewide. Notably, the school accomplishes this with lower per-student spending than several nearby schools like Fairmont Charter Elementary and Hemlock Elementary. A key highlight is its science program, where proficiency is nearly double the Vacaville Unified average.

Browns Valley's consistent improvement is a hallmark, especially when compared to other local schools. For example, the very close Edwin Markham Elementary ranks much lower, demonstrating that neighborhood factors alone don't determine success. The school also outperforms others with similar student demographics, such as Cooper Elementary and Orchard Elementary. Its dramatic reduction in chronic absenteeism, now below average, aligns with its academic gains, making it a leading and effective school within its district.

Open Quote What a difference a year makes! We finally have a principal that works for teachers, students and families! We are beyond capacity (900 students) so not sure what will happen to all of the new housing families in our area. Please go to VUSD and demand transfers of students from other areas stop. Transfers need to go back to geographically assigned school and overflow must be considered at smaller schools like Orchard. Close Quote
