Summary:
Vacaville Unified includes 17 schools serving elementary through high school grades: 10 elementary schools, one middle school and six schools labeled high school. The 2025–26 results show considerable variation across schools, and the district’s unweighted average was below the state in ELA, math and science. The largest gap is in math: the average was 28%, compared with 38% statewide, and school results ranged from 1% to 45%.
Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy led all-grades ELA and science, with 71% proficient in ELA and 44% in science; those results were 22 and 8 points above state rates. Browns Valley Elementary led math at 45%, 6 points above state. At the other end, Ernest Kimme Charter Academy had the lowest reported results in all three subjects: 12% in ELA, 1% in math and 9% in science—38, 37 and 27 points below state, respectively. Grade-level comparisons also matter: Sierra Vista K-8 had 62% proficiency in eighth-grade ELA, compared with 42% at Willis Jepson Middle and 36% at Vaca Pena Middle.
Year-over-year changes were mixed: the average ELA result was nearly flat, math fell by about 1 point and science rose by about 2 points, while state results rose in all three subjects. Will C. Wood High improved across the board—by 10 points in ELA, 5 in math and 13 in science—while Buckingham’s ELA result fell by 14 points. Similar school context does not guarantee similar results: Alamo Elementary and Jean Callison Elementary had free/reduced lunch eligible shares of 56% and 55% in 2024–25 and student-teacher ratios of 24.6 and 23.7, yet Alamo’s ELA and math results were 55% and 44%, versus 41% and 27% at Callison. Wilkerson’s scores were suppressed, so districtwide school averages exclude it.
