Summary

Eugene Padan Elementary is a K–6 school in Vacaville, California, serving 751 students in Vacaville Unified. In 2025–26, its proficiency rates were below both state and district results in English language arts/literacy (ELA), math and science. SchoolDigger placed the school at the 13th percentile and gave it 1 star, ranking it 5,042 of 5,804 schools. Most importantly, its proficiency was below every nearby school in all three subjects.

Science was the school’s relative bright spot, but its results remained low against every comparison group. Eugene Padan’s proficiency was 28% in ELA, 17% in math and 17% in science, compared with averages of 43%, 31% and 29% at seven nearby K–6 schools. The district’s rates were 46%, 29% and 28%, and the state’s were 49%, 38% and 36%, respectively. The largest gap from the state was in math at 22 percentage points; science was the least-below subject against the state, district and nearby-school averages. ELA had the largest shortfall against the district and nearby-school averages: 18 and 15 points, respectively. The relative bright spot is not a strong result: science proficiency was still below all three benchmarks.

Scores have not kept pace with state results. From 2022–23 to 2025–26, ELA proficiency fell by 1 percentage point, while math rose by 2 points and science by 3; over the same period, the state gaps widened by 4 points in ELA, 2 in math and 3 in science. Chronic absenteeism improved from 47% in 2021–22 to 30% in 2025–26, but remained above the district’s 15%, the state’s 18% and the nearby-school range of 10.3% to 23.9%. In 2024–25, 72% of students were eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, and the student–teacher ratio was 24.6. One historical SchoolDigger subgroup result stood out: its ranking for how well it serves English Language Learner Students rose from the 14th percentile in 2022–23 to the 39th in 2023–24, 25 points above the school’s overall percentile that year.
