Washington (George) High is a San Francisco Unified school serving grades 9–12, with 2,068 students in San Francisco. Its 2025–2026 graduation rate was 90%, above California’s 88%, and third among eight nearby schools with results. The most important concern is attendance: chronic absenteeism reached 36%, compared with 18% statewide and 33% in the district, after rising 14 points in one year.

Academically, Washington is a strong nearby-school performer, though not the local leader: it ranked third among seven nearby schools with results in all three subjects. In 2025–2026, proficiency was 67% in English language arts (ELA), 45% in math, and 51% in science. Those rates were higher than the state’s 49%, 38%, and 36%, respectively.
