Summary

Sultana Elementary is a K-6 public school serving 589 students in the Ontario-Montclair School District, operating in a high-need community where a large majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

Academically, the school's overall test scores are below state averages, but a closer look reveals significant strengths in supporting specific groups of students. Sultana is particularly effective with English Language Learners, ranking in the top 21% of California schools for that subgroup, and also shows strong results for students from low-income families. Furthermore, the school has made impressive progress in reducing chronic student absences, cutting the rate by more than half since the pandemic to a level now better than both the district and state averages. While math scores dip in 6th grade, English scores show solid growth from 3rd to 5th grade.

Compared to nearby schools, Sultana's performance is typical for its district, similar to neighbors like Bon View Elementary and Richard Haynes Elementary. However, it lags behind higher-performing schools in the neighboring Chino Valley Unified district, such as Liberty Elementary. Within its own district, Vista Grande Elementary achieves higher scores with a slightly lower-need population, and specialized programs like the district's Central Language Academy show strong upper-grade performance. Despite having a more favorable student-teacher ratio and higher per-student spending than some of these peers, Sultana's overall academic outcomes have room for growth, though its success with vulnerable student groups and attendance are promising foundations.

Open Quote This school is very unorganized With parking dropping off and picking up the kids the principle here makes poor decisions with the parking because it has been brought up to her plenty of times. The school is very unsafe for the kids As they do not open the gates for the kids to come in they make them wait outside until it is 730 for grades 1st -6th or 715 for kinder, as other schools that keep their gates secretly opened for students to come in and lock them when school starts so no one can try to kidnap them accidentally crash into them so they don't run off since this is elementary or Or even shoot at them since that is what is going on in this world at the moment. Please find another school your children can go to near your area where they are at least are kept safe Due to this my child will be attending a different school this year! I'd rather my child be safe.
Ps. The Ontario Montclair district does not do anything all they do is contact her And keep a log! Close Quote
