Mesa View Middle serves 817 students in grades 6–8 in Huntington Beach, a coastal Orange County community, and is part of the Ocean View district. Its most important strength is broad achievement: in 2025–26, proficiency was 68% in English language arts (ELA), 64% in math, and 61% in science—above district rates by 11, 14, and 12 points, respectively, and above state rates by 18, 26, and 25 points.

Compared with nearby schools serving grades 6–8, Mesa View stands out more in math and science than in ELA. It scored 7 points above the nearby-school average in both math and science, ranking fifth and fourth among 10 comparable schools; in ELA, it was just 1 point above average and ranked sixth. Its two nearby Ocean View peers, Vista View Middle and Marine View Middle, were below Mesa View in all three subjects.
