Summary:

Schools in zip code 92648 include five schools: three listed as elementary, one middle school and one high school, with Kinetic Academy serving kindergarten through grade 8. In the latest results, four schools had 2025–2026 scores, and each was above the state in English language arts (ELA), math and science. Huntington Seacliff Elementary led that group in all three subjects, making it the clearest overall standout.

Seacliff scored 75% in ELA, 70% in math and 66% in science—25, 31 and 30 percentage points above the state, respectively. Its science result was 14 points higher than the next-highest school. Agnes L. Smith Elementary was the other K–5 school and led Seacliff in math in grades 3 and 4, but its all-grade science score was the lowest among schools with current results. Huntington Beach High had the lowest all-grade math result, 47%, though it remained 8 points above the state; it also had a 98% graduation rate, compared with 88% statewide. Ethel Dwyer Middle was above the state in all three subjects. SchoolDigger’s 2025–2026 rankings placed Seacliff at the 91st percentile, Dwyer at the 89th, High at the 86th and Smith at the 85th.

Recent score changes varied by school and subject: High gained 7 points in ELA but fell 7 in math; Dwyer gained 6 in science; Smith fell 9 in science; and Seacliff fell 2 in ELA, 2 in math and 8 in science. Across the same four schools, the average science lead over the state narrowed from 25 points in 2024–2025 to 18 points in 2025–2026. Kinetic Academy has no 2025–2026 test results; in 2024–2025, it was above the state in all three subjects and ranked at the 83rd percentile on SchoolDigger. As context, the schools’ 2024–2025 low-income measure was free/reduced lunch eligible: 20% at Seacliff and 42% at Smith; their student-teacher ratios were 24.7 and 25.6. These are observations, not explanations for score differences. All-grade results compare schools with different grade spans, and Kinetic’s latest test results are from an earlier year.
